This work was well planned and efficient with care for our home. The work was completed on time and all of the rubbish and mess was removed. We were involved with the planning and informed of progress. Good timekeeping and considerate about noise.

This is the 2nd job given to 1st Choice (Julian) so I guess that says something in itself. As previously, Julian was professional, punctual and a person who takes pride in his work. Julian is also good at keeping one up to date and makes sure that he cleans up at the end of each day. Julian is an early starter putting in a full days work each day of attendance he also gives a very good and accurate idea of how long the job will take and advises along the way if there is to be a change. The job done was good. Julian was disappointed by one of his staff on the job but soon sorted this out.

I have used this company before and although he lives and works in Surrey, whenever my company has work or repairs we now contact this builder and book him to come and do the work for us. We needed a room completely gutting, the wall removed and re boarded, plastered and then painted, the built in cupboard needed repairing etc. The work was done to a high specification, he cleaned up everywhere and ensured there was no mess. Quick and stuck to the quote.

Julian comes with a wealth of experience and he understood the results I was looking for. He provided a clear breakdown of costs and I found his quotes to be reasonable. He knocked through a load-bearing wall in our extension and replaced with a steel beam, replaced uneven joists and flooring, plastered and painted the walls, radiators and ceilings and added new electrics for the kitchen. He fixed things as he went along to get a nice finish. He takes pride in his work and showed up each day, kept the place clean and was easy to talk to and discuss ideas. I can recommend his services.

Was introduced to Julian Buck t/a as 1st Choice Building and Maintenance through a contact of a contact. Was therefore nervous but did my due diligence and went with it. Julian was professional and friendly throughout the process pre and during works. Also consistently turned up every morn. Job was completed on time and at estimated cost and to a high standard. He actually waived additional unforeseen cost of £80. Did think Julian was pricey but I do understand labour prices have risen of recent. There is one snagging item that Julian has promised to return to fix. All in all I’d highly recommend Julian.

I run a number of small family children's care homes, and Julian Buck was recommended to me. Julian assessed the work needed, he sourced all the materials, he completed the work, cleaned up after himself and was extremely helpful throughout. The work was carried out to a very high standard and Julian was great. Julian lives and works in Surrey but my homes are in Devon. Julian has agreed to come down every couple of months and carry out work in any of the homes I have, this is reassuring for me as now I don't need to worry about finding a good builder. Over a 12 week period Julian and his team completed the full internal refurbishment of our 3 bed terrace inc structural mods, new bathroom, kitchen, full electrical, plumbing and heating throughout. They were extremely hard working ensuring that they met our move in date. Julian was very patient with us, generous with his time and collaborative when we came across the odd challenge on site. Communication was excellent, Julian always picking up the phone when we called. The quality of finish was good, we are very pleased with our new home and appreciate all of the hard work completed.
